[He bounds down to her workspace without second thought, only much to Godric's surprise, his favorite scholarly witch isn't... there. But the room bears sign of fresh use, so it's not like she could possibly have gone far.]
[Godric is just as smart as the rest of them, or else why would they be starting up this school? So it's not hard to figure out she ran out of what she needed, or at least was missing something unexpected. He heads swiftly outdoors, a rumble of thunder greeting him in the distance once he steps onto the grass.]
[He catches sight of Rowena right away, tiny speck that she is, but even from this far away he can pick up on the tell-tale signs of her being lost in thought. With a grin, he breaks into a jog across the grounds, hoping to catch up to her before she hits the woods.]
[No one would ever call him sneaky, but he's pretty impressed with how quickly he lessens the gap between them, as well as the fact that she hasn't seemed to notice him yet. It's that thought that stops him from calling out to her, and he slows into a walk once he's certain his longer strides can easily reach her.]
[Which is why he's only a few feet behind her when he finally speaks up.] Don't tell me the thunder was louder than I?
[ when he speaks, godric manages to do a rare thing and actually startles her. rowena spins around quickly in surprise, but her expression calms when she spies the familiar face staring back. ]
Are you saying you've been following me this whole time?
[ she's rolling her eyes - affectionately, of course - but also chiding herself for actually not noticing. had she been so lost in her thoughts? getting consumed by her work wasn't anything new for the witch; it was the fact that she'd ended up quite a ways further from the castle and she can only thank merlin that it was only godric who'd managed to sneak up on her. ]
Or you just happened to be out for a stroll? [ the last part is said with a frown directed at the sky and the nearing grey clouds. though she did admittedly like the rain, it was usually from behind the window in her tower. ]
[He tries really hard not to laugh, and he wins - so long as wide grins don't count as laughter, because his face brightens with the victory of his success.]
Not the entire time. [A pause.] Though, by technicality, I was also out for a stroll.
[The kind of stroll that just happened to involve trailing after her. Not that he has any doubts of her capabilities in defending herself (chivalrous, he may be, but Rowena is one of the most powerful witches he knows; he followed her with the primary concern of wanting her company.]
[And maybe making sure she didn't end up in the woods in the middle of a storm. He knows what she's like when she's overly focused, too. As much as it's a normal and often progressive part of her in the academic direction, that sort of distraction right now feels more like a liability.] Tell me you've never gone for a walk in the rain!
Certainly not without any kind of protective charm over me - unlike certain wizards.
[ she raises her eyebrows to give him a pointed look because they both know she'd never normally be foolish or reckless enough to do such a thing - not like godric, who seemed to thrive off of the possibility of recklessness alone. ]
I suppose now that you're here, there's no sense in you not accompanying me. Perhaps you can help make my search end quicker.
How terribly boring! We'll need to fix that. [That means don't you dare put up a charm when it starts raining today, since it's definitely going to. Someone is suddenly super determined to make sure she gets this experience.]
[Godric matches her pointed look with an overly innocuous grin, but it widens into something genuine when she tells him to tag along.]
I can only help if you share what you're searching for. [He's already moving to catch up and walk at her side, though.]
The only ideas worth having are grand. [A lie, because contrary to popular belief, Godric does know how to be discreet when the occasion calls for it.]
[He's still going to make this happen, though. If she can put up a charm to keep herself dry, she can do something similar to dry herself after the fact.]
[Rowena pulls out the scroll, and he shifts a little closer, so he can peer over at the list.] Seems easy enough to find, provided you don't go off in your head again.
While that is an idea I find agreeable, I must say experience has taught me otherwise when it comes to your schemes. [ him being discreet can make it all the worse (for her anyways). because then she can't know when to expect... whatever it may be.
she huffs, tucking the scroll back into her robes. ]
[His expressions turns into something offended. Teasingly so.] Schemes implies something nefarious. I am hardly the definition of nefarious. [A beat.] I will give you enthusiastic or overbearing on occasion, however.
[Godric laughs, but it's quiet and not really at her expense.] Has the meaning of "one" changed in value?
[He feigns actually being hurt, clutching his arm, but the smile betrays it.] I still think you're confusing word meaning. Did you inhale too many fumes from some sort of in-progress potion?
I wonder if I must've if I'm allowing you to tag along and bother me like this. [ her words lack any real maliciousness, but that doesn't stop her from giving him a small smirk. ( if rowena were the type to stick her tongue out, she'd be doing it right now ). ]
[Far from being insulted, Godric just lets out a laugh.] Then we'll have to look for a cure alongside everything else. [And she's smirking, which is almost a smile, so he'll take it. It means she's having some level of fun.]
[ you know what with being out in the grounds and all. there's an uncharacteristically cheeky smirk on her face which betrays the serious tone she'd been trying to take. ]
Perhaps I'm leaving it as a surprise. You do know how I love those, often more than I love being sure of things. [Definitely grinning at her cheekily now.]
Oh, don't use 'target.' It has such negative connotations. [A beat.] Unless of course with reference to our dear Salazar, then by all means - target away.
Having been the literal target to some of them, as has poor Salazar, I think the word is quite suitable. And like a target, they've a chance of being missed entirely.
[ she gives him a pointed look. ] Or do I need to remind you of the last feast Helga put together?
[He waves his hand.] Target or otherwise, my surprises are never malevolent, my dear Rowena. Don't listen to Salazar when he says he doesn't enjoy them.
[His own look turns into one of pointed innocence.] With her absolutely perfect apple pie?
Yes, I'm certain he enjoyed the time you'd spelled all of his clothing to keep changing form very much. I never knew how handsome he'd look in that green dress.
[ she holds back a laugh because she really shouldn't laugh at the memory - for poor salazar's sake, of course. ]
[In a really dumb way, he likes that look on her face - the almost laugh, the laugh he knows is there but she won't let out. It suits her, as much as he loves hearing her laugh outright too.] I will own up to nothing. You can't make me.

[ don't you dare thwart her charms dude!! she is perfectly fine not having had this experience tyvm also why else were protective charms invented.

I intend to stay out as long as you do. Whether that means assuring you stay out in a potential downpour or otherwise is uncertain.
